Oakdale Hotel far right and rail road crossing

View of Mass Central RR, Oakdale, half mile west of trail entrance near granite mile marker. Site is a dam on the Quinapoxet River where water was diverted to the Whiting Mill.The trestle was laterremoved and a concrete culvert was built and the road bed filled in.View of M.C.R.R. Oakdale. Quinapoxet River and Harris Mill in background. Sand pit is on right. Entrance to the Rail Trail is to the left of the picture.
Whiting Mill next to rail trail in Oakdale, 1/2 mile west of trail entrance near mile marker. Water was diverted to east side of the rail trail from the Quinapoxet River and then under railroad bed to the
mill. The trench can still be seen from rail trail where it led to the lower part of building in the photo.Central Mass RR train heading south from Oakdale toward Boyston. Scene is about the location of the Rt. 140 causeway over the Wachusett Reservoir just south of the Old Stone Church.
